Library

Libraries play a very important part in promoting the progress of knowledge. Thus DPGITM centrally air conditioned library also acquires a prominent place among the students and faculty. Constructed in a total area of 600 sq. ft. DPGITM central library has a seating capacity of more than 100 students and contains over 25321 volumes of publications including books, standards, reports, proceedings and more than 70 National and International journals in the fields of Computer, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology and Management, etc. The Library also has a separate Internet section consisting of a number of networked terminals for providing recent and most comprehensive access to e-journals and other e-reference resources to the faculty, student and staff under Internet environment. The central library has automated all its routine activities through library software such as Alice and also extended the scope of various services like CD-ROM database search, OPAC. Library has been subscribing to a large number of national newspapers and magazines regularly for updating and providing the current information for students and staff members.

DPGITM Central Library aims are to provide the most effective lending, reference, proactive, current awareness and information provision services possible, in response to current and future users’ needs; and to maintain and develop access to DPGITM Library collections as a national research resource for the students and teaching staff. To make the DPGITM Library a 21st century Knowledge Centre and to facilitate the transition of today’s engineering society to a knowledge base society of tomorrow. The DPGITM Library has digitized all in house resources and knowledge generated by the faculty and student of DPGITM. These resources are accessible through Intranet or Internet. DPGITM Library has Membership of Online Learning Resources:

Book Bank

The DPGITM provides book bank facility, wherein all the students joining the institute are being given a set of text book every semester. This has come as a boon to the students who do not buy costly books for their academic preparation.

Library Rules & Regulations:

  • Admission to Library: Students are allowed to library only on production of their authorized/valid Identity Cards and enter his/her name, branch, semester and time of entry and put signature in the register kept at the entrance
  • Circulation Issue System: A student can get a maximum of 6 books from the Book Bank at a time for entire semester and get a maximum of 3 books from the general section at a time for 14 days.
  • Overdue Charges: Materials borrowed should be returned on or before the due date, if returned late overdue fine 5/- rupees per day per book will be charged for the delayed period.
  • Book Lost: If the books are lost, then the borrower shall pay double cost of the book after getting permission from the librarian.
  • Care of Library Books : Students are require to handle the books/ Journal very carefully; marking with pencil , writing or highlighting , tearing the pages or mutilating the same in any other way will be viewed very seriously. In such case reader shall be held responsible unless these are brought to the notice of the library staff at the time of issue.
  • Reference section: This section has Encyclopedia, Dictionaries, Project reports, Reference books etc. which are only available for reference. User can make use of these resources.

Discipline:

  • Identity Card is compulsory for getting access to the library
  • Silence to be maintained
  • No discussion permitted inside the library
  • No personal belongings allowed inside the library
  • Textbooks, printed materials and issued books are not allowed to be taken inside the library
  • Using Mobile phones and audio instruments with or without speaker or headphone is strictly prohibited in the library premises.
  • Enter your name and Sign in the register kept at the entrance counter before entering library
  • Show the books and other materials which are being taken out of the library to the staff at the entrance counter.
  • The librarian may recall any book from any member at any time and the member shall return the same immediately.
  • Refreshment of any kind shall not be taken anywhere in the library premises
  • Don’t put any always mark/sign in the book.

  • Newspapers
  • Project reports
  • Journals and magazines
