HOD & Faculty

HOD’s Message

Welcome to the Department of Applied Science and Humanities, DPGITM. We believe in solving and handling the actual industrial problems other than classroom study. Here we guide students to excel not only in academics but in cultural and sports activities as well. We work for the overall development of a student and prepare them for the outside world. We are active members of SWAYAM, the massive open online course (MOOC) initiated by MHRD, Govt. of India. We have students enrolled in various courses from NPTEL, UGC, AICTE, and NITTTR. We have a well- equipped library with all the sorts of reading material available. Course books, reference books, and technical journals are easily available for students and faculties. Our campus is facilitated with Wi-Fi for students so that they can make use of the internet in enhancing their knowledge. Students are motivated to study the material provided by NPTEL. The students of the first year must enrol themselves in the various courses provided by NPTEL. We have a fully furnished and well-equipped (As per the Latest MDU Syllabus) Physics Lab, Chemistry lab, Programming lab, Electrical engineering lab, Engineering Graphics and Design Lab, and Mechanical Workshop. We conduct at least two industrial visits per semester which are mandatory for a student to attend. We are associated with BOSCH, NISE, HERO, MARUTI SUZUKI, SAMSUNG, and other top industries where we frequently take our students for visits. We conduct lectures where experts from industries are invited and discuss the present scenario in Industry. They share experiences and guide students with various opportunities available in industries. Students from the very first year of B.Tech are made to improve their communication skills. They are taught to speak clearly and concisely in an organized manner. Provide training for resume writing, interview etiquette, and other workforce skills.

Labs & Infrastrutures

Engineering Physics Lab

The physics lab basically consists of four labs (Electromagnetic Theory lab, Semiconductor Lab, Mechanics lab and Optics Lab) for various branches of first year as per MDU G Scheme Syllabus. The lab is equipped with facilities for the group of 30 students to carry out experiments independently. The lab is well-equipped and enables students to understand the fundamentals of Engineering Physics.

Major Equipments in Physics Lab

Hall Effect experiment, Dielectric constant experiment, PN diode kit, Zener Diode kit with voltage regulator, Planks Constant Apparatus, Solar cell apparatus, Newton’s ring experiment, Diffraction Grating, Michelson Interferometer, He-Ne Laser, Air track experiments, Bar Pendulum, Spring constant experiment, Maxwell’s needle, Torsion Pendulum and Sextent.

Engineering Chemistry Lab

The Engineering Chemistry Lab has a wide range of equipment as per the latest G scheme syllabus of MDU. The lab is aptly prepared to impart education in Chemistry in a neatly designed, spacious and well-ventilated laboratory with a capacity to accommodate 30 students. The lab is aesthetically designed with Marble slabs, separate basins and dedicated space to keep all the salts and chemicals. It provides students with a practical approach towards the various techniques used in engineering application. Practical awareness is inculcated and students are trained both quantitatively and qualitatively during the lab sessions so that their understanding and problem solving abilities can be enhanced.
